The first full length trailer for “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked” (above) reveals what this movie really is: “Chipmunks” meets “Cast Away.” These little critters can’t touch Pixar as far as wit, CGI or general creativity. But, as past instillations in this franchise, as well as this summer’s commercial hit, “The Smurfs,” have proved, diminutive talking critter movies are box office treasure troves. These set pieces, referencing everything from Beyonce to “Lord of the Rings” to “Indiana Jones,” will appeal to kids, but I can’t say the same for the grown-ups who will have to tag along.
