After the “Marigold” teaser poster dropped yesterday I didn’t know what to expect from John Madden’s new film, other than that it took place in an Indian hotel. The golden-years cast hinted at a movie about retirement, while the flowery design smacked of comedy. We get a bit of both in this first trailer, which left me completely satisfied. Every cut strikes the perfect mix of pathos and humor, including several moments that made me laugh out load. And don’t be deturred by the older cast: this will appeal to almost every age group.

“Marigold” follows a group of retired folks who move to a retirement home in India hoping to better their quality of life. What they find when they get there is not what they expected, but it makes for a good adventure.
