Things Get Biblical In Hardcore Red Band Trailer

For Kevin Smith’s “Red State”

If this trailer is any indication, director Kevin Smith lives up to his reputation as a genre-bender with his latest film, “Red State.” Let’s call it religious-sadomasochistic-horror-satire… No wonder Tarantino loved it.

The demented trailer adroitly sets up “Red State’s” holy war premise and then, in one explosive shot after another, accompanied by a kickass metal score, carries that premise out with Smith’s distinctive brand of bloody tongue-in-cheek. Indeed, this uncompromising director’s unique wit is laced in every line. My favorite: “simple just shit itself.”
