Netflix surges, DVD sales plunge, and studios hemorrhage. What now?
The smart studios (Pixar is certainly at the top of that list) are marketing their content internationally, which is why these cosmopolitan “Cars 2″ posters are so brilliant. The idea is simple: put “Cars” in several iconic cultural hubs across the globe. London, Paris, Tokyo, Germany, Moscow, and Rome are all represented, each with their own customized spoof-caption. There’s even a poster to commemorate England’s “Royal event of the year.”
This theatrical banner’s meticulous attention to detail is obvious. It mashes all the global cultural centers together into one coherent image, and there’s a lot to catch the eye. That said, this poster lacks one of the fundamental elements of graphic design — a strong point of focus.
