Here’s why photographers use static-gray as the standard for portrait-shoot backdrops — it makes people look great! Especially in fuchsia-pink gowns.

The choice of this commonplace backdrop was, of course, intentional, to make these “Bridesmaids” look every bit as banal as your next door neighbor. Said and done, it’s working, especially the antithetical caption, “Maid of Dishonor.”
